How the De-Viced
Beta works

De-Viced is a daily behavior-change program that helps you take back control of your phone use – in a way that actually lasts.

The program blends short lessons, in-real-life practice and reflection. The experience feels similar to a behavior-change app, but there's nothing to download – your daily sessions arrive as links and open in your browser, on your phone, tablet or laptop, at whatever time works for you.

What the experience feels like

What the experience feels like

De-Viced is guided without feeling rigid. The core program is designed to stay manageable each day.

  • It was kind of gentle, but it was also telling me what I could do and then leaving me in control of it.

    – Julius

  • “It did open my eyes a bit because... I didn't really know what type of user I was... which [then] really helped me understand and change things.”

    – Francesca

  • “It was literally about 10 minutes a day. We all spend hours on our phones - we can all spare 10 minutes doing something positive for ourselves.”

    – Emma

  • “It feels like there’s someone holding your hand through it, but there’s no pressure to perform. It’s a very low effort, high reward kind of thing.”

    – Ruveen

  • “The eight-week structure helps because it trains rather than just blocking apps and restricting usage. It asks why rather than just saying no.”

    – Chris S

  • “The daily check-ins became part of my routine and felt like a morning reset. The whole program felt personal and tailored to me.”

    – Heather

  • “Once I knew kind of what did work for me, then it was just really easy to know which [strategies] to choose each day.”

    – Maxine

  • “After about a week it becomes part of your routine and feels like no effort at all.”

    – Rachael

  • “At the beginning, you will have to put in effort. But the effort drops because most things become more natural.”

    – Chinedu

  • “Five to ten minutes twice a day. The prep and review were pretty straightforward. It gave me actions specific to me.”

    – Chris L

  • “De-Viced progressed nicely. Some days are harder than others but it doesn’t require too much effort.”

    – Rose

  • “I didn't feel as if I was being pushed into doing something that I didn't want to do.”

    – Amanda

8 weeks of guided practice

8 weeks of guided practice

You are not expected to overhaul your phone use overnight. Phone habits rarely respond well to dramatic attempts to force screen time down.

The program allows for occasional breaks, missed days or busy periods without losing momentum.

Beta participants should aim to complete the program within 8–12 weeks, moving through it at a steady overall pace.

1

week one

Notice what's driving your phone use

During the first week you're not trying to change your phone habits. The aim is to build a clearer picture of how your habits actually operate in daily life.

  • When phone use happens automatically

  • Which triggers are strongest

  • Which emotions, routines or situations make your phone use more likely

Many participants notice patterns they hadn't clearly seen before.

2

week TWO

Start experimenting

During the second week, you start testing small changes to your evening routine. You'll always set the pace.

These experiments are not about forcing the perfect routine. They are designed to help you see how your urges, energy levels and environment actively influence your behavior - and to identify which approaches suit you best.

What you learn in this week helps personalise the rest of the program.

3

week THREE

Focus on what works

During this week, you start focusing on the practices that are working best for you. The process is gradual, so you never need to take on more than feels manageable.

We guide you to find an effective combination of practices that fit your profile, habits and lifestyle.

4-8

Next few weeks

Repeat, refine, make mistakes,
recover, and consolidate

Real change isn’t perfectly linear. Some evenings will go well. Others will be messy. That’s part of the process.

During this phase most participants in the pilot began to feel largely self-sufficient.

Taking breaks

Scale back for a few days and pick things up again when you're ready.

Consistency is important, but you don't need to be perfect every day.

Diving deeper

Optional videos and booster exercises are available whenever you want to really explore a topic.

Or keep things light and practical.

Easy to access

There’s nothing to download.

Complete your daily sessions on any device at whatever time works for you.

Now you can try
De-Viced for yourself

To accelerate particiaption and learning, we want the program to be essentially free during the Beta phase. But when something is completely free, it can be harder to create a sense of commitment - and De-Viced works best when you really want to do it.

So we use a refundable deposit. Pay the deposit when you join, complete the program within three months, and you get it back.

During the Beta, we are not charging a program fee. Instead, participants pay a refundable $75 / €65 / £55 deposit.

The deposit is there to encourage completion.

If the program doesn't feel right for you, you can leave within the first seven days and receive a full refund.

The deposit is returned in full when you complete the program within three months. Program access remains available for six months from the date of payment.
